Australia v New Zealand: Teams announced for Oceania Championships

Teams have been announced for the upcoming Oceania Rhythmic and Artistic Gymnastics Championships, with Australia and New Zealand set to go head-to-head across the disciplines.


The Oceania Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships will take place from 30 April to 2 May in Tshwane, South Africa, before attention turns to the Oceania Artistic Gymnastics Championships on 9 May in Brisbane.


Across both events, the stakes are clear. The winning nation will secure a team place at this year’s World Championships, while an individual qualification spot will be awarded to the next best-placed country.


Rhythmic Gymnastics

Australia will field both group and individual athletes, led by senior group members Isabella Wang, Muk Yan Aggie Fan, Joselyn Cheung, Victoria Wei and Alina Yu.


In the individual competition, Alicia Tan, Sofia Hemmings and Polina Leonova will represent Australia.


New Zealand will be represented by Havana Hopman in the individual competition.


Artistic Gymnastics

The Artistic Championships in Brisbane will see strong teams from both nations across men’s and women’s competition.


For Australia’s women, Olympians Georgia Godwin and Emily Whitehead headline the senior team, bringing experience into the competition.


New Zealand’s senior women’s team features the return of Reece Cobb and Courtney McGregor, adding further intrigue to what shapes as a closely contested event.


Men’s Artistic Gymnastics

In the men’s competition, Australia’s senior team is led by Olympian Jesse Moore, bringing experience to a lineup that also includes rising senior Ritam Malik in his first year at this level.


New Zealand’s team is led by experienced campaigner Misha Koudinov, supported by a well-rounded squad including Daniel Stoddart and William Fu-Allen, setting up a closely contested battle across all apparatus.
