Oceania Representatives Join Global Gymnastics for All Leaders at 2025 GfA Colloquium in Baku

The Oceania Gymnastics Union (OGU) proudly participated in the 2025 Gymnastics for All (GfA) Colloquium, held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from April 2–4. The event brought together GfA experts, technical directors, and development leaders from around the world to collaborate, share ideas, and drive the future of inclusive gymnastics. A total of 42 Federations were present at the event.

Representing Oceania was Emilene Taulu and Josiemaraya Ryland, both Development Support Officers for OGU, alongside Justin Hayes, Gymnastics Australia’s GfA Technical Director and 2022-2024 OGU GfA Technical Director. The trio contributed to discussions focused on enhancing access, innovation, and community engagement in GfA programs across diverse regions.

The colloquium featured interactive workshops, best-practice presentations led by international GfA leaders. A key theme of the event was expanding participation through creative, culturally responsive programming — a priority that closely aligns with OGU’s development goals in the Pacific. “It was inspiring to see the global commitment to making gymnastics accessible and enjoyable for all,” said Emilene Taulu. “The exchange of ideas and success stories from other continents has given us fresh perspectives to bring back to Oceania.”

The GfA Colloquium reaffirmed the global gymnastics community’s dedication to broadening the reach of the sport beyond competition, placing a spotlight on recreational, educational, and social dimensions. A highlight for all attendees at the colloquium was Justin Hayes sharing how First Nations Australian's are engaging with GfA in community groups.

OGU extends its gratitude to the colloquium organisers and hosts in Baku for their hospitality and looks forward to implementing new strategies and ideas to grow GfA throughout Oceania.
