2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games preview

The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games are here, with Australia’s and New Zealand’s top artistic gymnasts ready to represent their country and our region on one of the sport’s biggest stages.

Across the five days of competition from 24 to 28 July, gymnasts will compete for team, All-Around and apparatus medals across 14 events, with eight medal events in Men’s Artistic Gymnastics and six in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics up for grabs.

Women’s Artistic Gymnastics features competition on Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam and Floor Exercise, while Men’s Artistic Gymnastics includes Floor Exercise, Pommel Horse, Rings, Vault, Parallel Bars and Horizontal Bar.

Competition begins with the team and qualification rounds before progressing to the All-Around and apparatus finals.

Australia eyes another successful Commonwealth Games campaign

Australia heads to Glasgow with a team that combines proven international performers with an exciting new generation of talent.

Leading the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics team is eight-time Commonwealth Games medallist Georgia Godwin, who returns for her third Commonwealth Games with the opportunity to become Australia’s most decorated female Commonwealth Games gymnast.

She is joined by Kate McDonald, the Birmingham 2022 balance beam champion, Breanna Scott, who arrives in Glasgow after winning back-to-back Australian All Around titles, Emily Whitehead, who is preparing for her third Commonwealth Games campaign, and Olympian Ruby Pass, who will make her Commonwealth Games debut.

On the men’s side, Paris Olympian Jesse Moore leads a young squad featuring four Commonwealth Games debutants in Ben Foster, Tru Hagens, James Hardy and Ritam Malik.

The Australian men will be looking to build on recent international performances and challenge for the country’s first men’s team gold medal since Delhi 2010.

New Zealand blends experience with exciting new talent

New Zealand has selected a seven-athlete team that combines experienced international representatives with four Commonwealth Games debutants.

Two-time Olympian Mikhail Koudinov headlines the team as he prepares for his sixth Commonwealth Games, becoming just the fourth New Zealand athlete to reach that milestone.

Rio Olympian Courtney McGregor also returns to Commonwealth Games competition following five years away from the sport.

Glasgow holds particular significance for McGregor, who was selected for the 2014 Commonwealth Games before injury forced her withdrawal just days before competition.

The team also includes Commonwealth Games returnee William Fu-Allen, alongside Daniel Stoddart, Alex Istock, Jun McDonald and Sienna Shields.
