More than 70 Aerobic gymnasts and delegates from Australia, New Zealand and Fiji have arrived in Bendigo this week for the 2025 Oceania Aerobic Continental Training Camp.
Hosted by the Oceania Gymnastics Union (OGU) at Palmer’s Gym, the four-day camp (8–11 December) is providing athletes with the chance to refine their skills, share knowledge and strengthen connections across the region.
Over the four days, athletes will immerse themselves in a structured program combining technical development, performance preparation, and skill progression. Participants will build physical strength and endurance, refine choreography and artistry, and gain insights from international and domestic experts.
“Our vision is to see every gymnast in the Oceania region supported through collaboration, opportunity, and shared expertise. This camp is a step toward that vision by bringing together athletes from three nations to learn from world-class presenters and from each other,” said Alice Stooke, Secretary General of the Oceania Gymnastics Union.
Headlining the list of internationally renowned presenters is four-time World Champion Antonia Papazov from Bulgaria, Matteo Guerrini, national coach of the French Aerobic Team, and Balazs Farkas, a former Hungarian Senior National Team member and World Champion. Australian Deborah Greenbaum will also contribute her expertise as a FIG Category 1 judge and the Oceania Technical Director. Her experience spans twelve national titles and more than 20 international events, including three World Championships.
Manager Economy & Experience James Myatt said that hosting this event at Palmer’s Gym in Bendigo is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our region’s sporting facilities, hospitality, and welcoming community.
“We are proud to have the Oceania Gymnastics Union’s 2025 Aerobic Continental Training Camp come to Bendigo. Elite training at this level in our region is inspiring for the next generation of athletes and strengthens Greater Bendigo’s reputation as an outstanding destination for major sporting events,” Mr Myatt said.
“A very big thank you to the City of Bendigo for hosting us, and to the team at Palmer’s Gym for adjusting their usual program to accommodate the training camp,” Ms. Stooke added.
